ETC’s Responsible Tourism Showcase Application Guidelines
Your application and any supporting materials must be submitted electronically and in English to webeditor@travelearning.com by the deadline of December 10, 2008. All supporting materials must include the name of and contact information for the person submitting the materials. A confirmation email will be sent to acknowledge receipt of the application materials.
Cover Letter:
Please e-mail a cover letter with your application. It should include the following information:
Nominator’s Complete Contact Information: •Nominator’s first and last name (must be a Conference or Virtual Member of ETC)
•Nominator’s organization/company name
•Nominator’s position/title at organization/company
•Nominator’s complete mailing address
•Nominator’s phone/fax number and primary e-mail address
Nominee’s Complete Contact Information:
•Nominee’s first and last name (if applicable) and position/title within organization/company/or project being nominated
•Nominee’s organization/company/ or project name
•Nominee’s complete mailing address
•Nominee’s phone/fax number and primary e-mail address
•Nominee’s website URL (if available)
Application Procedure:
Your application must include all of the following either on one document or as separate documents that can be e-mailed to webeditor@travelearning.com.
1. Title of organization, program, project, or product being nominated.
2. A brief introductory paragraph (no more than 500 words) summarizing the nominee.
3. A description of how the nominated organization, program, project, or product specifically supports and shares benefits with the local community. Include examples of how the nominee supports biodiversity, cultural conservation, and/or volunteerism in travel efforts.
4. Provide a description of the nominee’s best practices, and specifically how the organization, program, project, or product addresses the following:
• interpretation programs
• staff training programs
• minimizing impact on the environment
5. Awards or recognitions that the project has received to date.
6. Newspaper and magazine articles about the nominee or other supporting information is encouraged but will not be accepted in lieu of the abovementioned required information.
